Liberty grad Annika Wray leads Chinese Taipei in World Lacrosse Championships

Annika Wray capitalized on a big-time opportunity at the U-20 Women's World Lacrosse Championships last month in Hong Kong, China.

The Liberty High School alum and UMBC player earned a spot on Chinese Taipei's national team, which placed 14th out of the 20 squads in the field.

The United States took home gold, followed by Canada with silver and Japan earned bronze.

Wray did her best to power Chinese Taipei forward on a national stage.

She collected 5 goals and handed out 3 assists in Taipei's 17-16 win over New Zealand, and finished with 20 goals and 4 assists. Wray landed in the top 20 in total points during the world tournament.

It was a family affair for the Wrays, in fact. Older sister Alanna Wray (Liberty/Loyola Maryland) played for the Magpie Chinese Taipei women's senior team, with Annika, and brother Jordan Wray (Calvert Hall), who plays men's lacrosse at Georgetown, also played for the Magpie Chinese Taipei Men's senior team in June at the Heritage Cup in Philadelphia.
