Baseball coaches name all-Carroll County Athletic League squad

Check out the 2024 all-county team as selected by the varsity coaches.

I'm proud to have been a part of CMSportsNet's maiden voyage this spring in bringing you live coverage of Carroll County Athletic League baseball.

Baseball was a challenge for us because we hadn't ventured away from the stadiums or gymnasiums in terms of live coverage, but as usual the Community Media Center crew put together a vision and carried it out almost flawlessly.

We went to Eldersburg on May 1 for the second regular-season game between rivals Liberty and Century -- our very first baseball "Game of the Week" broadcast in the history of CMSportsNet. And we saw a back-and-forth battle between the county foes that Liberty won 10-9 to clinch the outright CCAL title for the Lions.

Check out the highlights below!

Both teams went on to play in regional finals. Century fell short against Middletown in the 2A West Region 1 final, 4-1. But Liberty blanked Pikesville 3-0 in their 1A North Region 2 championship game to send the Lions back to the state tournament.

A big thanks to Century baseball coach Chris Poe, Liberty coach Travis Inch, and Century athletic director Ashley Hoyt for their cooperation in helping us pull everything together.

Eight days after our inaugural baseball broadcast, we went to Westminster High School for a regional playoff game that featured the Owls taking on Tuscarora. It wasn't ideal weather conditions, but the game went off as planned and were able to broadcast it on our social media platforms.

And a special thanks to Westminster AD Brian Tombs and Owls coach Mark Winebrunner for letting us share some of their field space to broadcast the game.

Here are the highlights from the 3A West Region 1 playoff matchup.
