South Carroll boys lacrosse nets first win of season

A local roundup of boys and girls lacrosse results from March 29, 2022.

Cash Stanton posted 5 goals and Caden Petrucci handed out 3 assists to lead South Carroll past Catoctin 12-4 in boys lacrosse action March 29 in Thurmont.

Phil Suter had 2 goals and 1 assist, and Stanton added an assist for the Cavaliers, who claimed their first win of the young season. Anthony Bond won 9 of 12 face-offs in the victory, and South Carroll (1-1) hosts county rival Westminster on March 31.

Boys Lacrosse

Middletown 8, Manchester Valley 7 (OT)

Recap: The Mavericks (0-3) fell short despite 2 goals from Marquis Morris. Kevin Connor made 8 saves in the loss.

Hereford 7, Westminster 2

Girls Lacrosse

South Carroll 22, Catoctin 1

Recap: Shannon McTavish totaled 11 points with 4 goals and 7 assists as the Cavs improved 2-0. Leah Miller netted 6 goals and Caroline Laur finished with 4 to go with 2 assists.

Manchester Valley 11, Middletown 8

Recap: The Mavericks (3-0) edged last season's Class 2A state finalist behind 4 goals from Haylee Bittinger and 3 goals from Emma Penczek, who dished out 3 assists as well. Sarah Brisson added 2 goals and 2 assists.

Hereford 13, Westminster 11

Recap: Jess Kent had 5 goals for the Owls (2-1), who couldn't hold an early four-goal lead.
