CMC Ribbon Cutting

Storage building constructed by Carroll County Career and Technology Center Students.

The Community Media Center (CMC) held a ribbon cutting for a new storage building constructed by Carroll County Career and Technology Center Students on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the Community Media Center in Westminster.

The CMC partnered with Carroll County Career and Technology Center to have students spearhead the construction of a 700 square foot storage building.  The partnership provided students with the opportunity to hone the skills of their selected trade in a real-world setting.  In addition, the scope of the project highlighted the importance of collaborations with the customer, local businesses, governmental agencies, and other important stakeholders.

A kick-off meeting for the project was held in February 2022 and since then 182 students from 7 programs including; carpentry, electrical construction, heating, ventilation, AC and masonry, participated in the design and construction of the structure.

Thank you to all the students and to everyone from Carroll County Public Schools, Carroll County Career & Technology Center, Carroll County Government and local companies who helped bring this project to life!

Our hope is that this partnership serves as a model for other local businesses and organizations to pursue similar collaborations an leverage the tremendous talents of Carroll's Career & Technology students.
