All-America Lacrosse Classic to feature plenty of local flavor

The annual showcase takes place July 27-31 at Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Field.

The nation's top boys and girls lacrosse players descend upon the area for a weekend of competition in front of college coaches and a nationally televised audience.

It's time for the All-America Lacrosse Classic at Johns Hopkins University, where a pair of Senior games are set for ESPNU and a tournament of Underclass games will feature close to 50 teams from across the country.

Carroll County has its representation, so let's see who is slated to participate in the big event.

The Senior games take place July 30 at Homewood Field, with North vs. South rosters for a boys and girls contest. The girls game begins at 6 p.m., and the boys game follows at 8:30.

Calvert Hall midfielder Jordan Wray, who hails from Marriottsville, is a member of the South team on the boys side. His sisters are from Liberty High School -- Alanna Wray is now playing women's lacrosse at Loyola, while Annika Wray is coming off her sophomore season with the Class 1A state champion Lions.

On the girls side, Maggie Weisman of Mount Airy is on the South squad as an attacker. She played at Glenelg Country School and is bound for University of Maryland next year. She was GCS's leading scorer this spring and grabbed 72 draw controls.

There are some other players from around the county taking part in the Underclass tournament, which features two divisions in each region for each gender — the Command Division and Highlight Division. The Command Division features players from the 2025 and 2026 high school graduation years. The Highlight Division has the 2023 and 2024 players.

Each division has pool play games during the tryouts, before a championship round takes place July 31 (Blandair Park in Columbia, Troy Park in Elkridge).
