Century out in front of Carroll County boys basketball pack

The first-place Knights are gunning for another Carroll County Athletic League championship.

Century has been on top of the Carroll County boys basketball scene for several years, and the Knights are close to being there once again.

They ran their record to 15-2, and 8-1 against county opponents, with their 65-44 victory over host Westminster on Feb. 3. Junior guard Andrew Marcinko led the way with a game-high 24 points, and senior forward John Pavlick added 18 for Century, which won its sixth game in a row.

The Knights have seven county championships on their resume, including the past three. Century won outright crowns in 2009, 2014, 2015, and 2017, then shared the title with Liberty in 2019 before winning it outright again in 2020 and 2021.

The Lions are 5-3 in the standings this season, tied with Francis Scott Key for second place. Liberty takes South Carroll (4-4 CCAL) on Feb. 4 in Winfield, and the Cavs travel to Century on Feb. 8.

Liam Long had 8 points for the Owls (3-11, 1-6) while Everett Costley added 8 points and seven records.
