Here's what is at stake in boys and girls lacrosse around the Carroll County Athletic League during the week of April 25-29, 2022.
The high school spring sports regular season is nearing an end, and that means Carroll County Athletic League titles are about to be decided.
Let's take a peek at the boys and girls lacrosse championship chases with 2 weeks to go before the regional playoffs begin.
Girls Lacrosse
It's a wrap on the girls side already thanks to Century's 19-3 win against Francis Scott Key on April 22. The Knights ran their record to 11-0 with that victory, and 5-0 in the CCAL. Even with one county game remaining, against Liberty, Century has already captured the crown.
The worst the Knights can do is 5-1, but their win against Manchester Valley (10-1, 4-1) back on April 12 gives them the head-to-head tiebreaker. Century also has the tiebreaker over Westminster (9-2, 3-1) thanks to its win against the Owls on April 19.
So, it's another county championship for Century -- the third in a row and fourth in five seasons. The Knights have 12 county titles since 2003.
Man Valley and Westminster still have a game to play that will decide second place in the county standings. The Mavericks are set to host the Owls on April 29.
NOTE: Century was set to host Liberty on April 26, but the game was postponed because of inclement weather. A makeup date has yet to be decided. The Knights and Lions played each other in a tournament game April 16, with Century prevailing 11-9.

Boys Lacrosse
Century is looking to make it a sweep by winning the CCAL crown on the boys side as well. The Knights (7-3, 4-0) can repeat as county champions if they defeat Francis Scott Key on April 28 in Eldersburg.
Century has won five games in a row since playing in a tournament on April 9, which includes a thrilling 9-8 overtime victory over Westminster on April 19.
The Knights will win the county title by getting to 5-0 thanks to that win over the Owls (7-4, 4-1), because the rest of Carroll's boys teams have two or more losses in the county. Century can capture a second straight county title with one more win. The Knights won their first-ever championship last season.
Westminster can clinch second place by beating city rival Winters Mill (3-4, 3-2) on May 2. That game was also postponed on April 26.
Before we show you the updated county standings, here's the CMSportsNet highlights from that Century-Westminster showdown at Ruby Field.
