Liberty, Winters Mill get chance to play lacrosse on rainy day

The Lions and Falcons got their boys and girls games in thanks to a relocation on April 7, 2022.

Weather has not cooperated for the most part this week in terms of keeping high school sports contests as scheduled. The worst of it came on April 7, with all but two of the countywide games getting washed out amid the rain and nastiness.

But Liberty and Winters Mill got their boys and girls lacrosse games in -- both contests were moved to Western Regional Park in nearby Howard County, and the start times moved up to 3:30 p.m. on separate fields.

Carroll high school sports fans should know Western Regional quite well. Last year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the county's entire field hockey fall 2020 season was held there in the spring of 2021. Football had some of its games take place there as well.

And several other games have been relocated there over the years to make use of the park's artificial turf fields.

So, the Lions and Falcons made the most of their opportunity to play lacrosse there this week.
